KOD 2: Starting sometime in 1/2008

KOD...aka King of Diamonds was the brainchild of Marc Weiss and Ross Gotleib back in the summer of 2007. The premise of the league was to play a 36 game sprint to the pennant. To make things fun we decided that 6 of the 10 teams participating would make the post season. Originally we were a little loose on deadlines and timeframes, but cooler heads prevailed and we tightened things up and drove our first season to a happy conclusion !

KOD 1 was open to choosing any team the participating manager wanted. This seemed like a great idea, but when we got 3 Dodger teams and 2 Yankee teams we realized going forward that we should probably limit it to 1 team per franchise.

KOD 2 will be theme oriented. The theme is quite simple: "Before/After". Simply put you can choose any team from your favorite franchise that corresponds to the year before or the year after they either won the World Series, Pennant or Division Title and did NOT make the post season. The only other criteria is that the teams we are choosing from will represent the "modern" era, 1947-2006. That gives us 60 years worth of teams to choose from.

A perfect example of a team for this league would be the 1979 Yankees. They qualify under 2 categories. 1: The Previous Year (1978) they won the World Series & 2: The following year (1980) they won the division. This team still had it's core of veterans who won 3 consecutive AL pennants and 2 World Championships. What it lacked was it's leader, Thurman Munson, who tragically died in a plane crash on August 2, 1979. Can you be that leader this team so desperately needs ???
